Shanna Richey

Kindergarten

My name is Shanna Richey and I am so excited to teach your child this year at FA! I would like to take this opportunity to share a little about myself.

This will be my first year teaching Kindergarten at FA, but my 8th year teaching Kindergarten. Throughout the past 12 years, I have had the opportunity to teach 1st, 3rd, 4th grade and Transitional Kindergarten. I have loved each group of students and feel it is a privilege to teach each and every child.

Over the past couple of years I have felt God call me to homeschool my children and wanted to be obedient to his calling.  It was a difficult decision to leave my position at Jenison, but one I am excited about and have peace with.

I was born and raised in Jackson, MI and I am the youngest of four. I am very close to my family. I am married to a wonderful man, Troy Richey, who is an investor. We have a girl and three boys- a daughter named Paige that is eight years old, Paxton that is six years old, a 3 year old named Palmer and a one year old named Porter. It is a blessing to have them as our children!

I went to Bethel College and played golf there while getting my elementary education degree. After college I tried to qualify for the LPGA Futures Tour. Even though I qualified for some events, I missed teaching students. I then taught 3rd and 4th grade in a suburb of Memphis before moving to Jenison and teaching at JPS. While teaching at Jenison I got my Master’s degree in Education with a focus on Early Childhood Education at Concordia University. I am very much looking forward to getting to know your child!
