\Hi there! My name is Joy Gelderloos (you can call me Mrs. G). I am very excited to join the FA staff this year as the support teacher! I believe strongly that God created each person beautifully and uniquely YOU. This means that we all think, learn, and grow in our own awesome ways. It is my goal to work with you to discover different strategies to become the best learner you can be. Whether you think best by sitting quietly at a lecture, or focus best by having wiggle breaks (like me!), I look forward to helping you find successes in your learning!
Fun facts! I was born in Taiwan, but I grew up in Southern California. I graduated from Calvin College with a degree in Special Education and Elementary Education. After marrying my college sweetheart, Jon, I traded the California weather for a slightly colder one in Grandville, Michigan. I've had the privilege of working in churches big and small, overseeing different aspects of the Children's Ministry. God then called me to serve in a different setting at Helen Devos Children's Hospital where I worked for the last four years [until recently] within the Child Life Department. Last June, I was promoted to a new title- Mommy! Well, I was always "Mommy" to our rescue pup, Chomper, but now I get to be "Mommy" to a human kid named Kaleb. As a family, we love to travel, go on picnics, and play board games.
Get your facts ready because I'll be asking you about them as we get to know each other this year!
