Hi, my name is Samantha Byl. I grew up in Grandville, MI, and my husband Matt and I moved to Hudsonville in 2017. We are only the second owners of our 40-year-old house and have been having fun slowly updating all the original decor.

 

I was homeschooled from 5th through 12th grade, and when I graduated I went to GRCC and got my associate's degree in Early Childhood Development. I then spent 2 years working in the GRCC preschool in the infant room. I have spent most of my life around young children in some way, from babysitting to childcare and I also teach beginning violin and piano lessons!

 

In my free time, I like to do anything crafty, but my favorite is sewing--clothing, costumes, quilts, toys...if it involves fabric I’ve probably given it a try. I also love to read and we're always adding to our large book collection! My husband and I love exploring new parks in the area and attempting to wear out our crazy husky Lucy. In September of 2019, we welcomed our first child, Logan, so I have a little less time for fabric and Lucy! We welcomed our second son, Jude, on August 31 of 2021. Thank you to Carly Rodammer for doing my maternity leave!

 

2018/2019 was my first year teaching at FA and I've loved every year. I’m looking forward to seeing what the next year of Kindergarten brings!
